Halloween Reads!

Happy Halloween everyone! Not everyday is Halloween therefore today I'm giving you a special post on scary books that will be perfect to read tonight! I personally love Halloween and would happily spend everyday in a costume with a black cat by my side. I am beyond excited for Halloween this year so I'm here to share the love. Here are some spooky reads for you:
Hollow Pike
Release Date: 2nd February 2012
Publisher: Indigo
Format: Paperback
Pages: 314
Synopsis: Something wicked this way comes...

She thought she’d be safe in the country, but you can’t escape your own nightmares, and Lis London dreams repeatedly that someone is trying to kill her. Lis thinks she’s being paranoid - after all who would want to murder her? She doesn’t believe in the local legends of witchcraft. She doesn’t believe that anything bad will really happen to her. You never do, do you? Not until you’re alone in the woods, after dark - and a twig snaps... Hollow Pike - where witchcraft never sleeps.
I loved this book and it's full of horror and suspense making it a perfect Halloween read! It's a book that will make you keep the light on, even more so, make sure you keep your curtains shut at night. You never know who or what could be watching.
White Crow
Release Date: 2nd July 2010
Publisher: Orion
Format: Paperback
Pages: 275
Synopsis: It's summer. Rebecca is an unwilling visitor to Winterfold - taken from the buzz of London and her friends and what she thinks is the start of a promising romance. Ferelith already lives in Winterfold - it's a place that doesn't like to let you go, and she knows it inside out - the beach, the crumbling cliff paths, the village streets, the woods, the deserted churches and ruined graveyards, year by year being swallowed by the sea. Against her better judgement, Rebecca and Ferelith become friends, and during that long, hot, claustrophobic summer they discover more about each other and about Winterfold than either of them really want to, uncovering frightening secrets that would be best left long forgotten.

Interwoven with Rebecca and Ferelith's stories is that of the seventeenth century Rector and Dr Barrieux, master of Winterfold Hall, whose bizarre and bloody experiments into the after-life might make angels weep, and the devil crow.
This is one book that will make your skin crawl. This is the only book that has made me scared while reading, I was gripping the pages not wanting to go on because I was afraid what I would find out. This truly is the perfect Halloween read.

Synopsis: Rule #1: Do not show fear.

Fifteen-year-old Bridget Liu just wants to be left alone: by her mom, by the cute son of a local police sergeant, and by the eerie voices she can suddenly and inexplicably hear. Unfortunately for Bridget, it turns out the voices are demons – and Bridget has the rare ability to banish them back to whatever hell they came from.

Terrified to tell people about her new power, Bridget confides in a local priest who enlists her help in increasingly dangerous cases of demonic possession. But just as she is starting to come to terms with her new power, Bridget receives a startling message from one of the demons. Now Bridget must unlock the secret to the demons' plan before someone close to her winds up dead – or worse, the human vessel of a demon king.

Dark Inside and the sequel Rage Within are both brilliant! I will only put the first one on here, after all that's where you need to start. This book is brilliant and full of horror and suspense. The baggers are zombie like creatures that are out to get your brains! Be aware and do not stay out after dark!
Here's what I will be reading this Halloween:
Bad Taste in Boys

So Kate, her best girlfriend, Rocky, and Aaron stage a frantic battle to save their town . . . and stay hormonally human.
This is more of a funny Zombie book but still it has zombies! I can't wait to read it!
Salem's Lot
Release Date: 1975
Publisher: Hodder
Format: Paperback
Pages: 751
Synopsis: 'Salem's Lot is a small New England town with white clapboard houses, tree-lined streets, and solid church steeples. That summer in 'Salem's Lot was a summer of home-coming and return; spring burned out and the land lying dry, crackling underfoot. Late that summer, Ben Mears returned to 'Salem's Lot hoping to cast out his own devils... and found instead a new unspeakable horror.

A stranger had also come to the Lot, a stranger with a secret as old as evil, a secret that would wreak irreparable harm on those he touched and in turn on those they loved.

All would be changed forever—Susan, whose love for Ben could not protect her; Father Callahan, the bad priest who put his eroded faith to one last test; and Mark, a young boy who sees his fantasy world become reality and ironically proves the best equipped to handle the relentless nightmare of 'Salem's Lot.
Stephen King is the master of horror, and it seems fitting to read this novel on Halloween, doesn't it?
